Foundation Scholarships -- Disabled Students

Alice Collins Memorial Scholarship

Established in memory of former employee of Disabled Students Programs and Services, Alice Collins. This scholarship is awarded to disabled students for educationalneeds. Applications are available in the DSPS office located in the Santa Barbara Building. 

Annual Award $75; Department Selected

Adrienne Cheung Dong Memorial Scholarship(FALL)

This scholarship was established to provide assistance to students with disabilities who graduated from a Downey Unified School District high school and attend Cerritos College. Ithonors Adrienne's many years of service to both the Downey Unified School District and the Disabled Student Programs and Services at Cerritos College. In order to qualify, studentsmust meet the following criteria: 

  • Must have graduated from a high school within the Downey Unified School District
  • Must be receiving services through Cerritos College DSPS
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Preference is given to 1st semester students

Annual Award (1) $500 

Kay Follett DSPS Scholar Award (SPRING)

Established by Dr. Kay Follett, Professor Emerita in DSPS, to support the advancement of qualified students with verified disabilities. The scholarship is awarded to a student who has completed all foundation courses in reading, math and Engligh, as well as substantial coursework toward an AA degree or transfer goal. Preference may be given to students who do not qualify for any other significant financial awards.

  • Must be an active participant of Cerritos College's DSPS Program for two or more semesters
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.75
  • Must have 30 units complete including foundation courses in reading, math and English
  • Mustprovide a minimum of two letters of recommendation

Annual Award: $500* (*$250 each semester for two semesters following proof of enrollment)

Robert C. Hughlett Scholarship for Students with Disabilities (SPRING)

Established in honor of retired director of Disabled Students Programs and Services, Dr. Bob Hughlett. This scholarship is awarded to disabled students for educational needs. Studentsmust meet the following criteria to apply:

  • Must be receiving services through Cerritos College's DSPS Program
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Must have 30 units complete and 15 of those must be transferable
  • Must have plans on transferring to a four year university

Annual Award: $2,000* (*$500 each semester for two years)
