Cerritos College Foundation -- Scholarships
Thank you for your interest in applying for a scholarship through the Cerritos College Foundation.
1. How do I apply for scholarships through the Cerritos College Foundation?
Click on the online application link located on the left hand side menu. You will be required to create a user name and password to begin the online application - this allows you to save the application and complete later or make any necessary changes to your application. You will complete one application to be considered for most of our available scholarships.
2. When is the online application available?
FALL SEMESTER: The application will be available online beginning August 1, 2014.
SPRING SEMESTER: The application will be available online beginning January 1, 2015.
3. When is the deadline to apply?
FALL SEMESTER: The deadline to submit your application is Monday, September 22, 2014.
SPRING SEMESTER: The deadline to submit your application is Monday, February 23, 2015.
4. How do I submit a reference letter?
The reference process is handled entirely through www.smarterselect.com. While completing the reference portion of your application, you will be asked to provide the name and email address of a reference. Once you submit your application, an email is sent to the individual listed with a link to an online reference form. We do not accept handwritten references.
5. What if a reference I have requested isn't submitted?
It is your responsibility to ensure that your references are completed and received. You may check the status of your references by logging on to www.smarterselect.com. If one or more are still pending, you may resend the request and a new email will be sent to the individual listed. Please make sure you have correctly listed the email address of your reference. All references must be received no later than one week after the application deadline. We do not accept written reference letters - they must be received electronically through the system. 6. How do I submit my transcripts?
You may scan your transcripts into a PDF file or copy and save into a Word document, save as a PDF and then submit them through the online application.
7. How do I know if I am applying for the right scholarship?
Based on your completed application, you will be matched to all scholarships for which you meet the minimum criteria. It is critical that you truthfully and accurately complete your application.
8. How will I know if I am selected to receive a scholarship?
The screening process requires a through evaluation of all the applications received. All completed and screened applications will be forwarded to the appropriate selection committees for review and all applicants will be notified via email no later than December 15 (Fall) and May 31 (Spring) with the results of your application. Please be patient - you will be notified if you are selected!
9. If I am eligible for more than one scholarship, is it possible to receive more than one scholarship?
10. How much is an average scholarship?
Our scholarship awards vary, but the average amount awarded is $500.
